Privat forest Villeroy´sches Rentamt in Wallerfangen
The area of the private forest is located mostly around Wallerfangen on the slopes of the hill Limberg.
The specials of this forest are mixed stands with European Silver Fir and stands with sweet chestnut. The sweet chestnut stands show in a special way how important a south facing slope is.
Growing on a slope doesn´t influence only the thriving of the trees, but also their growth form. Along the ways and paths there are found trees with extraordinary roots which help the trees to get stability in difficult ground.

Forests can be managed in proftable way as well as in close-to-nature way even in difficult terrain. So you will find stands with trees in different ages in forests managed by Alpha For(e)st Ltd., from natural regeneration to deadwood.

Extreme steep slopes or special ecological valuable parts are not cultivated any more, so precious biotops can develop. This makes excursions into forests managed by Alpha For(e)st Ltd. always to a real event.
A rare experience is in our area a walk in a fir-mixed forests. But nature lovers can join it on the slopes of the Limberg. Firs are doing so well on this slopes that we can sustain this forest only with nature regeneration.

Cultural jewel
The Way of the Cross is known to all inhabtants of Wallerfangen. Stately sculptures built aut of red sandstone represent the single stations. It is a pity that most of them are demolished by vandalism or in a smaller part destroyed due to environmental influences. Not all stations could be saved, despite of several measures taken by the familiy Villeroy de Galhau
But there is still an extraordinary Way of the Cross. You will hardly find something comparable. The catholic community of Wallerfangen still prays all station of the Cross on this Way every Good Friday.
But this way is not only interesting for Christians but also for all culture interested hikers and nature lovers because of its exceptional beautiful landscape.
